The Beginning
1967
Analogic Corporation Founded
Bernie Gordon founds Analogic Corporation and establishes its headquarters in Wakefield, Massachusetts. The company’s business is focused on the design and manufacturing of analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters, digital panel instruments, and computer peripheral A/D subsystems.
1975 - 1986
Pioneers of Innovation

Patent A-to-D conversion tech. enables CT Worldwide
Analogic's patented technology in A to D conversion enables computed tomography (CT) worldwide. In 1975, the company moves to the forefront of CT with the invention of wide dynamic range and instant imaging computed tomography techniques. These are the first of many contributions the company would make to the development of CT, increasing image resolution and reducing processing time. The development of CT remains one of the most outstanding technological advances in medicine.
1978
Analogic listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange
1979
Logarithmic analog-to-digital converter invented
Less than five years later, in 1979, Analogic engineers invent the logarithmic analog-to-digital converter and Analogic becomes the first and only supplier of CT data acquisition systems (DASs) to medical imaging manufacturers throughout the world.

World’s first lightweight, mobile CT system developed
Already a pioneer in CT imaging technology, Analogic engineers develop the world’s first lightweight, mobile, CT scanning system for a major medical OEM in 1993, making CT technology more widely available to rapidly developing countries and niche markets.

First CT-based scanning system for airports called EXACT
In 1997, in response to the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 in 1988, Analogic is selected as a strategic partner to develop a CT-based scanning system for airport security called the EXACT (EXplosive Assessment Computed Tomography). The system is able to scan a piece of luggage every 5 seconds, automatically detecting explosives and other threats.
1999
Analogic forms ANRAD to focus on selenium-based X-ray tech
After acquiring assets of Noranda Advanced Materials, a company at the forefront of innovative selenium technology, Analogic forms ANRAD in 1999 to focus on selenium-based flat-panel digital X-ray detection technology for mammography. Today, proprietary selenium-based technology enables 2D detectors to be 3D tomosynthesis capable.
2002
Fulfills first government contract for EXACT CT-based systems
In 2002, following the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Analogic partners with L-3 Communications and receives its first order to fulfill a government contract for EXACT CT-based airport security imaging systems, delivering 425 before the end of 2003. Today, these systems (now called eXaminer 3DX) represent ~50% of the U.S. install base of ~2,000 systems. Today, CT technology is the gold standard worldwide for checked baggage screening.
2006 - 2018
Expanding Security and Detection

First non-contact power transfer system (PowerLink) is developed
PowerLink™ is developed in 2006. The first non-contact power transfer system for CT gantries, PowerLink technology eliminates the limitations of standard rotating gantry systems, such as component failures.
2007
First CT-based checkpoint auto-EDS is installed at Hopkins Airport
By 2007 Analogic has been a long-standing leader in CT-based security imaging for checked baggage when the company brings gold standard CT detection capabilities to the checkpoint. COBRA™, the first CT-based checkpoint auto-EDS, is installed at an airport checkpoint in Cleveland’s Hopkins International Airport.
2007
Analogic acquires Copley Controls
Another milestone in 2007 is the acquisition of Copley Controls. Copley’s gradient amplifier manufacturing business complements Analogic’s RF manufacturing capabilities, making Analogic the only company to manufacture both gradient and RF amplifiers, the two main components of an MR system. In addition to its MR component business, Copley Controls delivers high-performance motion control solutions to a wide range of industries, including robotics, semiconductor equipment, and laboratory automation.
2012
Analogic's security business expands outside the U.S.
Analogic's security business expands outside the US in 2012 with international sales of the eXaminer XLB by L-3 Communications and through a partnership with Smiths Detection to produce the HI-SCAN 10080 XCT, a high-speed checked baggage scanner incorporating Analogic's CT technology. The HI-SCAN system is capable of screening up to 1,800 bags per hour.
2015
Analogic partners with NetBio to introduce a rapid DNA analysis system
Expanding its breadth of capabilities in Security and Detection, Analogic partners with NetBio and introduces the DNAscan Rapid DNA Analysis System in 2015 for use by law enforcement and other government agencies. The system analyzes a DNA sample in under 90 minutes to obtain DNA fingerprints, the most accurate and private approach to human identification.
2016
Analogic introduced next generation checkpoint baggage screening system
Analogic introduces next-generation ConneCT™ checkpoint CT baggage screening system in 2016, which uses advanced CT technology and state-of-the-art threat detection software to increase passenger throughput at airports while increasing the level of security and, ultimately, to allow personal electronic devices and liquids to remain in bags.
2018
Analogic merges with Altaris Capital Partners, LLC
On June 22, 2018, Analogic announced the completion of a merger agreement in which an affiliate of Altaris Capital Partners, LLC acquired all outstanding shares of Analogic, making Analogic a privately held company.
